Biomass Boilers

The Benefits of Wood-Fuelled Heating

1. Fuel Costs: There are significant cost savings with pellet, wood chip, logs compared to oil & LPG gas. There are also a number of government incentives.

2. Fuel Security: Local supply of pellet, chip and logs means that availability and price fluctuation are less of a concern; as well as contributing to the local economy.

3. Carbon Reduction: New regulations require carbon reduction both from domestic and industrial sources.  Biomass boilers are an efficient way of burning wood, and provided a sustainable source of fuel is used, can be carbon neutral in the long-term. The boilers that we sell are all MCS certified and ETL listed – a proof of quality and efficiency.

The first decision to make when considering a biomass boiler, is which fuel will suit you best?

The price of log and wood chip should be less, but vary dependent on whether :

- you have your own source / have to buy in,

- the quality of the wood hard/soft,

- the moisture content, and

- the processing – e.g. chipping grade, or split logs.

You also need a significant amount of storage space.

Wood pellets on the other hand, are of a consistent quality and are easier to transport and store.

We have a page to look at each fuel type in more detail:

AD Heating can help you to choose which fuel is best for you - we then need to identify where your boiler can be sited and how to connect it to your heating system.

There are a number of factors to consider when siting your boiler:
